Frequently Asked Questions

What does Matcha taste like?

If you have ever tried Green tea, its nothing like that! Imagine a smooth, milky drink with a delicious subtle flavour. Choose from Blueberry, Raspberry Ripple, Gingernut or Buttermint. If you just can’t decide, Becky and Laura will happily make you a sample to try.
If you’ve tried plain matcha before and didn’t like the taste, we promise once you’ve tried one of Calm Cup’s subtly flavoured options, you won’t look back! With all the benefits of plain matcha and no added sweeteners or nasties, their carefully curated selected of flavoured matchas are the matcha-hater’s answer to wellness in a cup. (Calm Cup co-owner Laura used to avoid matcha because of the taste, but now can’t start her day without one!)

What is it?

Matcha is powdered green tea. Calm Cup use Bird and Blend matcha, which is all ceremonial grade, grown in Shizuoka Province in Japan.
Bird and Blend say: A cup of matcha has around 75mg of caffeine, roughly the equivalent of a double espresso’s worth of caffeine! It’s a perfect replacement for anyone wanting to wean off coffee as the caffeine works very differently. It is released more slowly into your system so you feel energised for longer, with a sustained level of alertness. It boosts energy, cognitive function and alertness without giving you those caffeine jitters!

Is there space to sit in?

There are a few spots to perch but Calm Cup currently operate as a take away service.

Can I bring my dog in?

Yes, well behaved dogs are welcome.

Allergens and intolerances?

Calm Cup use exclusively plant milk, in line with their values of caring for people and planet. Choose from Oat or Coconut milk, hot or iced.

Can I buy Matcha to make at home?
